Kwaya Cellars

A Vision Of Unity

Frey Vineyards is the proud producer of Kwaya Cellars.

Nicky Coachman-Robinson, the president of Organic Wine Cellars LLC, and a representative for Frey Vineyards in the Southeast, dreamt about creating a unique wine label to honor his African roots. We partnered with Nicky to support him in his dream, co-creating a line that celebrates the West African cultural diaspora, organic farming, and the promise of unity.

Drawing from the Hausa word for seed, Kwaya wines are seeding the vision of an organic African-American-founded line of Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sangiovese. The Kwaya logo is the Adinkra symbol for “seed.” The Adinkra symbolism harkens to a depiction of the Wawa Aba tree, known for its hardiness and perseverance.

“As we become more health conscious about consuming high quality food, it’s also important to know about good high quality organic wine.’

— Nicky Coachman-Robinson, co-founder Kwaya Cellars

Nicky Coachman-Robinson has enjoyed 20 years of professional wine consulting, as well as a decade of sobriety. Five percent of all Kwaya profits will be donated to Nicky’s alma mater, Bridges of Hope.
