2015 Umbra Zinfandel
Mendocino, California

Fresh-crushed cherries and accents of wood smoke intertwine with racy, robust tannins in our organic Zinfandel that evokes our earthly existence. It’s jammy, with slightly higher sugar levels than our other wines. This wine is part of a limited release in celebration of the 2017 Great American Eclipse of August 21st, 2017.
Important tasting notes from winemaker Paul Frey: Expect natural sediment with this wine! Typically wines that age well and sit longer will have natural precipitation of pigments (anthocyanins) as well as tannins. Also, if the wine gets cold, harmless tartrates might appear (cream of tartar is made from such grape tartrates). These various sediments used to be much more common and is one of the reasons wine bottles still have punts at the base, the part that pushes upwards so sediment can collect for easier decanting. After opening, let the wine settle, then pour slowly.
Total sulfite, naturally occurring: TTB analysis, 1 ppm.
